Tanzplan Deutschland
1st Dance Education Biennale / Tanzplan Deutschland as part of CONTEXT#5 / Hebbel am Ufer (HAU)1751

Project description1752
The 1st Dance Education Biennale/Tanzplan Deutschland was held from the 26th of February to the 4th of March 2008 in Berlin. The first biennale was financed and organised in cooperation with Berlins Hebbel am Ufer (HAU) theatre and will then be held in various places throughout Germany. Like the theatre conferences of the acting schools, it was designed to be a platform for bringing students projects and work to a wider audience and for promoting exchanges among institutions.

In preparation for the 1st Dance Education Biennale (Documentation, please see press releases), Tanzplan Deutschland was offering training projects workshops for participating teachers, professors and students from universities and colleges from October. One of the topics of the first Biennale was the introduction of new learning tools and multimedia projects into dance training, so former Forsythe dancers are working on Improvisation Technologies, a CD-Rom by William Forsythe on movement improvisation, in these workshops.

This preparation was designed to provide a basis to enable students and teachers try out and discuss the new multimedia learning tools of William Forsythe and Emio Greco in a workshop and exchange programme during the 7-day Biennale:
- the Synchronous Object for One Flat Thing, reproduced is part of William Forsythe's vision for creating a new kind of dance 'literature' for a wide, interactive readership. This project involves a team of individuals working together to develop an interactive score for the Forsythe choreography Synchronous Object for One Flat Thing, reproduced (OFTR). In addition to elucidating its choreographic principles, the aim of the score is to stimulate new ways of reading dance by providing unprecedented access to the full range of information contained in OFTR (synchronousobjects.osu.edu),
- Emio Greco/PCs interactive installation double skin double mind is an attempt to create a specific notation system originating in the choreographic work of EG/PC that would be suitable for archiving purposes and for understanding and learning their specific vocabulary of movement and way of working.

Participating universities and colleges: Ballett-Akademie Mnchen // Ballettschule des Hamburg Ballett // Folkwang Hochschule, Essen // Hochschule fr Musik Kln // Hochschule fr Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt // Hochschulbergreifendes Zentrum Tanz / Pilotprojekt Tanzplan Berlin // John-Cranko Schule - Ballettschule des Wrttembergischen Staatstheaters, Stuttgart // Palucca Schule Dresden - Hochschule fr Tanz // Staatliche Ballettschule Berlin and Schule fr Artistik / Hochschule fr Schauspielkunst "Ernst Busch" // Staatliche Hochschule fr Musik und Darstellende Kunst / Mannheim Akademie des Tanzes.1753
